HOW TO PLAY EGYPTIAN SLAP RAT

THE DEAL

Deal all the cards evenly and face down. Players do not look at their cards.

THE PLAY

Player one flips over their top card to start the pile e.g. 4. Flip the card with the bottom first so opponents see the card before player one.

HOW TO WIN
Collect cards by being the first to slap the pile. The player with all the cards at the end is the winner.

PLAYER TWO

Player two follows the same process by playing a card on top of the last card e.g. 4.

MATCHING CARDS

If the cards match e.g. 4, 4 then all players slap the pile. The player who slaps first wins all the cards and places them at the bottom of their cards, unshuffled. Play restarts with the player that won.

SLAPS

If a player slaps incorrectly, or makes any other mistake, then they must place two cards from the bottom of their hand onto the pile.

EXTRA TURNS

If a J, Q, K or A is played then the next player gets extra turns and has to play a J, Q, K or A. The card must be played within the set number of turns e.g. Q gives two extra turns.

CLAIMING THE CARDS

If they do not play a J, Q, K, or A e.g. 8, 2 then the previous player gets all of the cards. If they do, then play goes to the next player to repeat.

THE WINNER

If a player runs out of cards in their hand they can still slap. If they make an incorrect slap with no cards, they are out. The player who has all the cards at the end wins the game.

TIPS

Remove jewelery before playing. It can hurt if you slap it.

STRATEGY

Players cannot hold their hand above the pile waiting for a slap.

EXTRAS

If it’s unclear who slapped first, then it is the player with the most fingers on the cards.

ADDITIONAL RULES

Add one or more additional rules for when players can slap:
– Three cards in a run e.g. 4, 5, 6.
– Two cards add up to ten e.g. 4 and 6.
– The card played is the same as the bottom card on the pile.
– There is a sandwich. This is when there is a pair with a different card in between e.g. 2, 8. 2.
